Founding Principal

Overall, Paul brings a unique perspective on how to improve building performance and achieve green building goals through his diverse experiences working in real estate development and land planning experience.  He has experienced and worn many hats in his field of experience as a city planner and building inspector for local cities, as a development manager for a market rate home builder, and as a elected official promoting smart growth strategies and policies.  This diverse background coupled with his facility planning and operations experience he gained via assisting large property owners such as the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, retro-commissioning services for UC Berkeley, provides him with a unique and unmatched understanding of built environment to advise clients on how to accomplish their green building goals while satisfying any local and state building code requirements.

Key Experience:

 

Lead Sustainability Consultant, The Hanover Company (2015 - present)

  • Provide green building services for Hanover's new northern California multifamily residential projects;

  • Key services include: Title 24 compliance, green building certification, code compliance, commissioning 

 

Special Advisor to the President, Academy of Art University (2008-2011) 

  • Assisted the Unversity address critical facility planning and operations, entitlement, code compliance, and government relations issues;

  • Managed a environmental review process (EIR) valued over $1 million;

  • Successfully resolved dozens building and planning code violations filed against the University

  • Completed a draft Insitutitional Master Plan as required by San Francisco Planning Code for large academic institutions;

  • Re-built trust and productive relationships with the San Francisco Planning and Building Departments and numerous city officials needed to successfully address the many compliance issues facing the largest building owner in the City with over 35 buildings;

  • Since his tenure at the Academy of Art, Paul has provided advisory services for numerous clients in need of facility operations, land planning, green building and permit services.

 

Development and Land Acqusition Manager, SummerHIll Homes, Palo Alto (2004-2008)

  • Responsible for land acquisitions and forward planning activities in the San Francisco Bay Area;

  • Performed all code, land planning, entitlement, acquisition , government relations, and market analysis due diligence for potential new acquisitions;

  • Successfully identified and negotiated the acquisition of over 300 residential units;

 

Miscellaneous: 

  • Public Sector: City of San Jose’s Planning & Housing Departments, Cities of Hayward and Belvedere - acted as a staff land planner, building inspector; 

  • Former member of the Gilroy City Council and Planning Commission - helped develop policy to revitalize the city’s downtown and advocated for affordable housing and smart growth policies;

  • Former political appointee for then California Governor Gray Davis working as a education policy analyst in the Office of the Governor.

Paul Correa, Founding Principal of CPG-Consultants, has worked in the land development, green building and sustainability field for over ten years.   Paul founded CPG on the premise that he wanted to leverage his vast experience in the built environment and the policy arena to advise property owners, developers, building operators and builders of multifamily market-rate and affordable housing reach both development and energy efficiency goals.  

 

He advises clients on such as goals as how to lower operating costs through building systems improvements or high performance building design, obtain entitlements, reach sustainability targets and satisfy any local and or state regulatory requirements effectively and efficiently, and, on time and on budget.
